Hi, just bought a new build property. The DGing is popping intermittently throughout the day. It appears to happen more in the sun. Is this normal? It only appears to be 2 of the windows in the entire house that do it. I''m due to sign the house off this week so any help would be appreciated so I can shout at the builders if I have to!!

Cheers,
Lionel

Hi Lionel! That doesn''t sound too good. Are you getting condensation at all?

Hi,

As the two affected windows are in the sun we would assume this is down to the thermal expansion of the PVC-U in the heat. It is normal for PVC-U to move by up to 2-3mm when exposed to the sun.

Thanks

is it the windows that is "popping" or is it door, maybe a composite door?

windows shouldn''t pop even through expansion, how new are they?

it is known that composite doors pop, this normally happens where the glazing cassette is against the GRP skin. this can be fixed by de-glazing and re-sealing both the internal and external cassettes.
