My next door neighbour paid a company to check out his double glazing installation and found out that 3 out of 8 windows were fitted incorrectly.
He said that the inspector used a Low E Detector.

I now want to check mine without paying someone £80 to come and do it and I have been looking around to see if I can do this myseld but the ones I find are in USA and seem very expensive. I saw this one on ebay has anyone ever used this type and will it do the job i want

Hi Cortinamk2,

Do you really suspect that your windows are incorrectly specified too? If you purchased from a reputable supplier they would have supplied a LowE unit as standard to comply with building regs. PErhaps approach them first if you are worried.

However, if you do feel you need to do your own testing, that indeed does look like a lowE detector unit. However, do be aware that some units do not work on double glazed units. They are only designed for single panes. So do your homework first and make sure you invest in the correct unit.

Cheers,

Why would a company go to the trouble of only supplying 5 out of 8 windows with the right glass. Something smells fishy
