2 years ago, we had windows and doors fitted by a local company. At first all seemed well. After a few weeks, the front door and 2 sets of patio doors would not close properly. I had the installers back a total of 5 times to adjust, take hinges off and even remove frame fixings to try and remedy. During their last visit i questioned whether the doors were too small for the sashes? they checked and assured me that they were within tolerence. I managed to convince them to change the hinges for something more robust as the ones fitted just flex and need constant adjusting. The alignment is so bad, I have a 6mm foam draft strip which i fitted, and that doesn't even close the gaps in some door corners! The company in question promised to do the work and also replace 2 "Victorian style" glass panels as the bars had dropped inside the glass units. I was promissed they would be in contact in a week or two. A few weeks later I chased them up regarding doing the work only to find that they had gone bankrupt and dissapeared. I have tried to find out who supplied the installers with the windows/doors to see if they could do something, but learned that they might have gone out of buisness as well. Problem is now, I have to pressure test the house as it's a new build but there is no way it's going to pass as it is. Is there any way out of this other than changing the units completly?

Hi DRE1975,
Have you been able to contact the insolvency practioners dealing with old company's wind up? They should be able to tell you whether the manufacturer of the product is still in business as they are likely to be dealing with them as it's likely your installation company would have had an account (usually owing) with them.
Cheers, DIY Conservatories
